With the gardens hosting over 500 students for field trips in April alone, the education volunteers have been busy, busy leading K-5 field trips. I am ever grateful for the education volunteers that taught and led field trips, leading to a successful spring season. After the plant sale, BOOST students finalized their garden designs, installed the plants in their garden beds, and presented them at their graduation ceremony. It was a wonderful day- a time to hear from the students about their experience and their design as well as recognize the students who have been participating in the Life Skills classes. In May, we held two horticultural therapy sessions with older adults at Carolina Village. The independent adults designed and planted containers that will be put around the community at Carolina Village, and the seniors in assisted living planted containers that will be seen by others at the Care Center in their courtyard. This summer, I will be leading summer school field trips, and the gardens will be hosting our Nature Camp once again. To replenish materials that we use with our programs, such as glue and markers, I have made an Amazon wish list.
